Vintage Christmas Card for December 4

Oh, dear...... I posted my card to my Facebook page last night and forgot to move over to my blog!  Here is the card for December 4th.......

This card really says 1960's even though Santa is in a Model A. Or is it a Model T?  I prefer Santa in a sleigh but this is kinda cute. Ho Ho Ho!

And the avacado green on the card is definitely 1960's. Trust me. My colors I chose for our wedding in 1968 were ice blue and avacado green. It was really quite pretty. And for gifts we received snack sets in avacado and orange, there was a shag and faux leather rug in avacado green and aqua, and then there was the sofa and chair in avacado green tweed that my mother helped upholster. Yes, avacado green was definitely 1960's. ;-)

Vintage Card - December 3

Tonight's card has a bit of whimsy in the design. It's a little elf character wearing a hat made of holly. I was looking through the cards for one with holly on it because Holly is my favorite greenery of the Christmas season. I was thinking I'd see a card with holly, a candle, a red bow. And the first card with holly was ths one......this little elf wearing a hat made of holly. It made me smile. Hope it makes you all smile.

Vintage Christmas card ~ December 2

Vintage Christmas card for December 2nd. It's hard to choose which card to share but this one caught my eye. The open door and a peek into the warm and cozy scene inside is just so inviting. This year we can't invite family and friends into our homes in the same way as we have in the past, but it offers a chance to make new traditions. Tonight, I finished decorating the tree in our living room. That tradition stays the same.....all the ornaments are the same, just in a different place than last year. Surely did not imagine back then that there would be a Christmas where we couldn't gather together. Next year we will gather and be so grateful to be invited to gatherings with our family and friends.

Vintage Christmas Cards to share.........

It's been a long time since I posted to my blog. I really need to post here more often.

And sooo .......

The past couple of days I've been getting out our Christmas decorations and I've been  decorating our tree. I came across a small box of vintage cards that were given to me by friends. They know I might use them in craft projects. I also have most of the Christmas cards that we have received in over fifty years of Christmases. In the 1970's, I decoupaged a few of them and they remind me of special family members. I also have just a few Christmas cards that were sent to my Great Aunt Bell in the 1930's.

To celebrate the days up to Christmas, I thought that I would share a Christmas card or two every evening and maybe even through New Year's Eve. I chose this one for December 1st. Such a pretty card and beautiful sentiment.

I'll see you tomorrow with another card.........

Happy May Day!

Do you remember making May Baskets and taking them door-to-door to friends and neighbors?  I sure do and still love to do it!

Have been having some May Basket fun with paper cups, circles of fabric, chenille stems, ribbon and glue. I love crafting!  I made these after I went to Comfort First, a nearby assisted living facility and we made May Baskets. Residents and some volunteers enjoyed making the baskets and sharing some memories as we created over 30 baskets that were hung on doorknobs this morning. Here are the supplies I gathered and our work in progress. These were easy to make but I learned some things as we worked. I want to do a tutorial on this.....along with a gazillion other crafty projects. I will get to it one of these days!
I went with square pieces of fabric when we were making our May Baskets. When I got home, though, I was playing with left-over supplies and decided I should have done round circles. I like the look better although both are kinda cute.
I started with styrofoam cups and then ran some glue around the outside upper edge. Then I turned the cup over and draped the square of fabric, then secured with a rubber band. This works best to set aside and then come back when the glue is set. We were working in a two hour time frame so didn't have time to wait for glue to set. Next step was to add the chenille stem handle (two chenille stems twisted together or braid three of them). Add a ribbon around the rubber band area. No need to remove the rubber band. You can add bows, flowers, buttons, anything decorative.
Here are some of our finished May Baskets......
I'm already thinking of the May Baskets we'll make next year!  Have a lovely day!

Easter Greetings!

It was a lovely Easter Sunday here in Minnesota. My husband cooked a big ham and I made good things to go with it. It was delicious........... our kids and grandson agreed. We had good conversation and enjoyed looking at some family photos. All in all a very good day!
With Easter and Spring comes the season of Hope. We hope for dry weather so the flooding abates and roads can open and crops can be planted. And I hope I can finally get back to blogging regularly. Before the dry weather comes, it looks like rain tonight and tomorrow. I love the sound of rain on the roof so I don't really mind.
I'll be back again soon with some projects I've been working on ..........

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am so thankful for my family, my friends, a home, a car, food in the fridge. I could go on. I am thankful for so many blessings and thankful to be able to share and give back. I hope this day you are also blessed. Tonight, I set aside a small bundle of $1 bills to drop in the Salvation Army kettles. I decided I won't keep any $1 bills, they'll all go in the kettles. Even when one gives a little, it can mean a lot. Have a wonderful day!
