Looks good enough to eat, doesn't it? If you look closely though, you'll see that the cake is actually made up of layers of disposable diapers ready for that new baby to wear! I thought this was just too cute and had to share. Collette found the idea on-line and all you have to do is type "Disposable Diaper Cake" in the search box and you'll find plenty of instructions for a diaper cake. Whoever thought of this one was very clever! Collette also prepared little favor bags for all the guests. Each bag has a votive candle in a glass holder and a little picture frame for a favorite photo.The new mom-to-be, Mandy, received lots of lovely gifts and in just one short month, she'll get to give it all a try. :-)
So did we get any real cake to eat? Yes, we did along with a lot of other good food from cucumber sandwiches to deviled eggs to veggies and dips to.................cupcakes!!!
These were delicious and were made by the other co-host, Barb, a long time friend of the guest of honor, Mandy. I want this cupcake rack and Barb said she found it at Home*Goods . If I have time, I'm stopping there on Friday when I'm out and about. I love cupcakes and I think I'd want to make them all the time just so I could have this cute cupcake tree on display!Busy day ahead. Going to clean closets and do some spring cleaning tasks. I'll try not to get distracted with a stitching project. :-)

Wow, that's a great looking cake. The new mom-to-be must have been thrilled with such a lovely shower.
The diaper cake is just the cutest thing for a baby shower. I'd love to have the cupcake stand and will have to look for one the next time I'm out.
I"ve seen the diaper cakes and they ARE adorable. Colette did a super job on that one. (I am assuming the baby is a girl??? LOTS of pink at that shower!!!) I like those cupcake trees, too, and have almost bought them, but then I'm afraid I'd be eating TOO many cupcakes. Anyone have a recipe for DIET cupcakes??? LOL
That "cake" looks fantastic. She did a really great job putting it together. I have seen these before but never one so pretty.
I like the cupcake stand too. You know you could make some of those fabric cupcakes for when the real ones are gone.
That's just the sweetest, original idea for a cake for a baby shower. Lucky mother-to-be and lucky guests to enjoy such a fun occasion.
I have seen the Diaper cakes before and you daughter did a wonderful job with her creation I wish I had had a sister in law to spoil me so much when my son was born :-)
Collette certainly has inherited your artistic skills.
I, too, would love to have one of the cupcake stands. At Christmas I would probably be tempted to decorate it with green lacy ribbon, set special ornaments on the cupcake spaces, and maybe add a string of lights outlining a star on the top. I also see an Easter egg tree, and a pumpkin tree, and . . . .
You could display a series of cupcake pincushions in that rack. No calories and another excuse to make cute pincushions-like we need an excuse lol
Oh what a fun shower! That was a darling "cake". I am new to blogging and I really enjoyed reading your blog. The picture of you all in the dresses so reminds me of my sisters and me in our hand-made dresses in our youth. Thanks for the memories!
