I have loads of penny rugs that I have designed and only a few in pattern form with completed samples. Many of the designs were drawn during times when I was preoccupied with family health issues. I'd draw sketches, whole series of things and tuck them away in my notebook. Now I finally have the time and the space to get out my supplies and make those designs real!!!
Now, I am almost ready to turn out the lights again, but there's one more thing I must do..........I want to wish my friend, Cindy, a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Cindy is one of those friends that I treasure even though we don't see each other that often. We crossed paths at a time when we were both trying to get more involved in the arts and creative activities and get others involved, too. She was an encourager to me and because of her, I probably took chances that I wouldn't have had I not met her. Because of Cindy, I formed an arts group and at her urging, I taught a couple of quilt classes that I would not have ventured to teach had she not encouraged me. Do you have friends like that? Someone who brings out in you more than you know is there? Sometimes we need those kind of friends. I know that my friendship was good for her, too. I'll be sending her an e-mail later today and I have a little package to send off to her "just because". If you have someone that was an encourager, I'd love to hear who that was but it's not necessary for getting your name in the drawing. All you have to do for another chance for the drawing for the items in my "Snowflake Surprise" package for the "Whirl into Winter Giveaway" is to leave a comment on this post and make sure you leave your e-mail address if you do not have a blog.
Night all!!
Sandi
P.S. Don't miss the info that I posted earlier on the block of the month I'll be offering in 2009. Just read on and you'll learn all about it! :-)

Ooohhhhh! I like what's in tin #1. Sign me up!
As for your question: My friend Kim never seems to turn down the opportunity for an adventure. As I approach 40, I am slowly beginning to realize the beauty in that kind of attitude - she always has so much fun!
Hope you're feeling better.
A very clever use of hearts! I really like your designs. Thanks for the extra opp to enter the giveaway. myzbarb(at)yahoo(dot)com
Ooh, it's lovely and looks like fun. Happy Birthday Cindy!
I just stopped by blogs from the Whirl Into Winter project to explore beyond the Giveaway page. What a happy surprise!
I have an internet friend I made several years ago - in Montana. She's the internet friend I would most like to live next door. Maine's a long ways away though, so I make do with random fabric postcard surprises & email. Time for an RAK! Now back to explorer mode :)
It is gorgeous - I bet the rest of your notebook would be worth seeing :))

Do you mean we can be entered more than once in your giveaway? Wow...I'd love that!!! :) I do have a couple of friends who are very encouraging and supportive. Although I am a teacher (retired), I do not have a lot of self-confidence in my creative side.....but it seems that at each stage of my life, I have had good friends who nurtured my self-esteem and that has allowed me to grow in ways I never imagined possible. I love that snowflake kit and I, too, would love to see that design notebook you were keeping awhile back!
What a cute project! I have several friends that are encouraging and I hope I not only express my gratitude to them but encourage them also.
I've always wanted to try my hand at wool applique and/or penny rugs. THis will be a good start and will fit in with my snowman collection very nicely! Thanks for the extra opportunity at prizes.
I love what's in Tin number 1....wowwy, I have only done one small wool applique project and loved it...
Aren't internet friends the greatest??
Love your design, and your story. It's so good to have people in your life like that.
Hi Sandi, I've never made a penny rug but have often thought it would be something I would enjoy doing. I'd love to be in the drawing for this and your other goodies.
Thanks,
MGM
My friend Mariah says I can do anything...most of the time I don't believe her, but now and again she is right.
Your rugs are very COOL!! i LOVE your talents!! My husband is my encourager! He believes i can do ANYTHING! lol Thanks soo very much for sharing ALL that you do!! OH and i have an award for you on my blog! Please stop by to receive it! Hope you have an AWESOME day! :D
I love the contents of tin #1.
I have a couple of very good friends who are incredibly supportive and encouraging and are always interested in what I'm making.
Your friend Cindy seems like a very giving person. I am sure there was a reason why the two of you came together and how your paths have crossed here and there. I have a friend like that also, we were very close while we lived in the same state, now that she has moved to TN, I don't see her as often but we do keep in touch by phone when time allows. You know what they say, True Friends are like Angles, you don't have to See Them to Know They are There. Rae Ann

I'm spoiled for choice when it comes to new BOMs. I've saved yoursthough. Thank you for sharing, how sweet.
I had a professor like that in college. I was initially majoring in a "safe" field and she steered me into the direction of journalism and that is how I ended up meeting my husband and being a journalist for the U.S. Army.
Yay! I was interested to see what was in the first tin.
I'd say my mom is my encourager, because she always thinks everything I do is wonderful because I'm super talented. It's nice to have someone like that backing you up. =)
I can't seem to get at your BOM pattern ....I'm not too savvy, so I guess I need it in pdf format....so please add me to your email list for these BOM patterns. Thanks!

My friends Carol and Cheryl both encourage me greatly. Carol because she is always trying new quilting methods and Cheryl because she encourges my use of weird fabrics. I hope I encourage both of them too.
Beautiful, so much attention to detail.

Can't resist another opportunity to be entered in your drawing. Yes, I've seen snow when I lived in KS for 4 years. Thanks, again.

Yes I have a friend like that--they are a blessing.

Hi Sandi, I hope that I am not too late to put my name into the hat for this posting. If not, that's ok but I would like to comment on the encourager in my life. My sister is an encourager and I often strive to keep up to her. She taught me how to cross stitch and she unwittingly teaches me so much in the arts, just in the way she does things. In blogland there are so many who share so generously, you are an encourager too! :).
Later
Peggy
Still hoping to find out what is in tin #2. Tin #1 was so awesome!
I hope I'm not too late to add an extra ballot in your draw. I've never done a penny rug but I'm sure I could if I put my mind to it. There I am, encouraging myself. WE need to do that, as well. My sister is a very good source of encouragement in my life, not necessarily in the creative side but in the dealing with life's trials.
Looks like a fun giveaway, and so many opporttunities with this "Whirl Into Winter", though it looks nothing like winter where I come from. Looking forward to seeing your BOM too.
Ohhh I like the penny rug in Tin Number 1. Glad you are taking designs out of the closet and sharing them with us. Angie
It's me again......entering as often as you allow us to enter!!! I love your prize....but not surprising as I love everything you do and show online!
I have had a friend like that. They are special people. Do you think I could make a penny rug? I sure would love to try.
That is cute! Love the extra opps to enter the give away. I didn't put blog address in first post but that's easy to get.
