Outside my window right now, the wind is blowing at a good clip, about 20 MPH and the temp is only about 7 degrees above zero (and I see now that we are under a Windchill Advisory!). Was it only yesterday that I was talking about a winter thaw? Oh, my, how old man winter does love to tease us!! So in the spirit of good humor, I got this idea for my version of the groundhog. Of course, she would be a lady groundhog. I looked into my backyard and there were swirls of snow and bare trees. The clothesline I tied between two trees is still there but frozen stiff. But what if in the middle of my backyard there was gold........as in "Goldie the Groundhog". Sure enough, here she is..................
I'm trying to stay warm in my sewing room today although the cold wind seems to be making it's way right through the windows and walls. Brrrr! Time for a hot cup of cocoa. Hope you are having a fine day and looking forward to spring. After all, the days are getting longer and the sun does shine, even if it is cold outside. Tomorrow's another day and it is to be even colder so I am going to warm it up a bit with some musical memories and Valentine tales. See you then!

Note: Please do not lift, copy, etc. my sketch of little Goldie. In real life, Goldie was my Grandma and she would think this was so cute - as long as the groundhog stayed out of her garden, that is!! Artwork copyright 2009 Sandra E. Andersen All rights reserved.

Well you have one cute Grandma! I think it's great that we have six more weeks to sew, as long as it doesn't come with ice and bad driving conditions!
Thanks for sharing your very creative artwork!

Goldie is a real cutie!!! We had a lot of windows open again today...temps in the 60's...able to sit on the screen porch comfortably...BUT....ice/sleet/snow coming tonight and tomorrow. This is very bizarre for this area...and I hate it!! LOL
Happy Ground Hog Day! Wonderful, isn't it, time for more sewing, but of course I sew whenever I can. Just dropping in again to get my name in the hat for the lovely boquet of Red Roses.

I'd be glad to sew for six more weeks.......and longer...LOL
HappyGroundhogDay, I am here to sign in for day 2 of the roses give-a-way. Goldie is so adorable, you are so multi-talented. Have got to remember my camera for our Quilt Guild meeting. Wish I had it today as a couple of the Quilts were absolutely breath-taking. They were made by Quilter Lucy. I will trty to get a picture next time. Stgay warm and Happy Quilting!
Very cute. I am sure that your grandma would have been proud. Six more weeks of sewing would be a dream come true.
By the way, I heard today that AZ. has a snake instead of a groundhog. Could that be possible?
I completely forgot it was groundhog day today. Guaranteed that he saw his shadow - has there ever been a year where he didn't up here?
Love your picture - Goldie is so cute!
Oh, yes...put my name in the hat again, too, okay? :) If I win, at least I don't have to worry about those roses wilting!!!
Oh, so cute! Thanks for putting a positive spin on things. Six more weeks of sewing, of course! lol
I wonder where this tradition came from- strange, but charming.
Ground Hog's Day is my dad's birthday, so it's always a special day for us.
