First things first...........the winner of the panel and fabrics from my previous post about Jacquelynne's
Happy*Town fabrics is..........Diane Wild. She lives only a few miles from me. How cool is that? You can find Diane's blog
here. Diane makes lovely memory bears and is an amazing quilter. I know she will do something awesome the Happy Town fabrics.
So now, what have I been doing with the fabrics? Well, I cut a bunch of charm squares and the a bunch of smaller squares (2-3/4" to be exact) and began stitching the smaller squares to the charm squares............
And when I was done, I had three chain-stitched sets of squares.................
And then, because I hate to waste fabric, I stitched along the corner of each square.........
and then snipped of those little triangles and opened them up, pressed them and I have bunches of little block sets like these on my ironing board.........
And that's where I'm at right now. Have to set the project aside for a couple days to tend to other things. Will get back to it on the weekend and share my next step.
I haven't shared a picture of Kaiser in quite awhile but thought you might get a chuckle out of this one. During our recent cold weather, I had three quilts on the bed to keep me warm. Our weather is warmer now so the other night, I tossed off the top quilt and it fell to the floor. When I woke in the morning, guess who was sleeping on that quilt? Kaiser said "who me? I wasn't sleeping on that quilt!"
And then he promptly put his head down and said "well, maybe I was and this is so comfy that I think I'll go back to sleep again". Actually, he has been not well, so I let him stay there. Husband Steve, had to take Kaiser over to the vet as he seems to have developed some hip issues. That would be Kaiser, not Steve. :-) Our vet prescribed a doggie aspirin regimen and it seems to be helping. I don't like to see any animal in pain and Kaiser was clearly in pain. So much better now!

So you stitched the second triangle before you snipped it off? Wow! One smart cookie! I would not have thought of that, but gee you already have the fabric all lined up! Learning here!!!
That fabric is so cute! And so is Kaiser on the quilt. I am happy to hear that the aspirin is helping. Poor guy.

Congrats Diane! Am so glad Steve, oops, Kaiser!, is better (hehe). Using those small triangles is the "only way to fly", given the $$ of fabric and the fact everything is laying perfectly for such darlings to be stitched. Can't wait to see how this comes along!! Hugs, Doreen

Glad to hear that Kaiser is feeling better too. Yes, he deserves a quilt nap.
I always enjoy seeing your projects. Again, you are doing things my way. I try to squeeze every last thread into one quilt or another.
Kaiser reminds me of one of my favorite memories from childhood, which was not appreciated then as much as now: When I was in grade school, my parents and I lived in a drafty old farm house, heated by a wood stove in the corner of the living room. My bed was along the bedroom wall closest to the stove. On cold nights, I would put on thick flannel pajamas made by my mother because the ones at the store were such thin flannel. She would bring in a warm towel that had hung on a chair back pulled close to the stove. That kept the cold sheet from touching me. My pillow had been sitting on that same chair. Another warm towel went over me, then she pulled across three to five quilts or blankets. Sometimes my dad's old Army blanket was in the middle of the stack because it was warm but itchy. Then she would grab the edge of the stack and pull them as tight as she could before tucking me in. The foot and wall side stayed tucked up all week to the point that I could not move until morning when the quilts had loosened enough for me to crab-slide out of bed. It sometimes felt like prison then; now the memory feels like a loving hug.
