When we got home, Steve and I had some of it with our supper. It's been several years since I made banana bread and after eating a big slice, warmed in the microwave and then added a bit of butter........well, I understood why they were looking forward to it! That got me to thinking about an e-mail that my Uncle Gordie sent me. He had asked me about my blog and wondered if I ever offered a recipe. I answered that I had shared a couple but not on a regular basis. He said he thought that adding a recipe would be a good thing, that my readers would "eat it up!" That made me smile. If this banana bread is any indication, yes, dear readers.......you will "eat it up!" And so, here is the recipe. It's been in my recipe box for at least 35 years, maybe more. I can tell by my hand-writing and the worn recipe card. It's quick and easy and so tasty!
Each month, I am going to post a new/old recipe. I have some great resources for recipes........a cookbook that belonged to my Grandma Goldie (Gordie's mother) and one from my Great Aunt Bell. I have all the recipe cards from my mother Mary, plus I have favorites that I have made since I started cooking and baking in the late 1960's. Good recipes are good recipes and need to be passed on! Hope you enjoy this new feature I'll be adding to my blog!

Yum!
Looking forward to future postings of tried and true favorites.
Sandi, I'm definitely going to try your banana bread - the recipe, that is ... I won't be popping in. :D I'm looking forward to more of your recipes.
Our newspaper just had an article about the importance of sharing recipes. She gave a lemon pound cake recipe that I tried and everyone loved. I look forward to trying yours.
Mmmmm! I love banana bread and will happily try your recipe. Thank you Sandi!
I love banana nut bread. It has been a while since I made it too. I experimented by adding chocolate chips and my family was crazy about it. I took a big chunk of it to my daughter one day while she was at work. She shared it with her co-worker. He asked her a few times after that if her Mom had made any more banana bread. LOL
Will be making a double batch today! The weather is supposed to/is quite ugly and getting more so in the hours ahead. We will need the coziness of the aroma of fresh baked banana bread!!!!!
We used the old bananas last week for banana bread. I'll have to try this recipe when we get more old bananas.
