  2. What a pretty fabric line! My favorite gift was a Baby Krissy doll I got when I was 5. She had hair that could grew, or shorten, and she was big, like a real baby with moveable arms and legs and head. I could put her in my old baby clothes - I played with her for years!

  3. My mom would start "stealing" money from her grocery fund starting every September...we never realized how much hamburger we ate the last 4 months of every year...lol My favorite year wasn't about the gift but the first time I got to help put all the gifts out for the younger kids...So much fun to see how she stacked them just perfectly so it looked like each kids stack was the same size...it was an art...

  4. What sweet, sweet fabric! My favorite Christmas present was a doll. I don't remember her name, but she was the one ... OH WAIT! I see in krisgray's comment she had the same doll!!! I don't think mine was Baby Krissy, though -- I think it was a different one in the same line? I loved that doll. My sister and I each got one that year -- I think my sister got Krissy. I even remember taking her to the doll hospital when something broke. :)

  7. My most memorable Christmas gift was my youngest sister. My father was in the Navy and we were stationed in Japan at the time. The day after Christmas our family flew to Korea with the intention of adopting a baby girl. Honestly, we were given a catalog of kids awaiting homes to pick from, and to me it was like the Sears Wish book. Best gift ever!

  11. One of the most fun gifts I got was an record album from my brother.

He wrapped up a piece of wood with a clue on it which took me to other clues and eventually to stand inside my own closet and look up above the door jamb where he had balance the long play record...good disguise job eh? It was a Stevie Wonder album.

Love to fabrics, wish me luck!

  12. Oh my, I loved my baby doll! My mother even embroidered her name across her cloth back so it wouldn't get mixed up with my 3 sisters' dolls! And she came with a wicker basket to carry all her 'stuff' which was a change of clothes, and anything else I could find around the house for her! Wonderful memories!

  13. One year, when I was 12, I got a most coveted pair of white Barbara Ann Scott figure skates. I was so thrilled. I skated everyday throughout the holidays. Whether it was on the river, at a local rink, or on a puddle of ice, those skates hardly ever left my feet.
Love the fabric. Great colours. Thanks for the generous giveaway.

  14. Oh, wow......not easy to recall that far back, but I do know I was thrilled to have a chalkboard fastened to the wall of our basement play area. I so enjoyed playing teacher and.....I eventually became a teacher, for real! I depleted a lot of my Christmas fabrics when making my scrappy pineapple chunk quilt, so it would be nice to replenish my stash with these nice fabrics!

  18. Gosh, looking back I think I was pretty much spoiled as a child! I had a lot of great gifts. I remember getting a huge set of magic markers and a great big poster with butterflies and flowers that you colored in. Also remember when I got a stereo with an 8-track player and a Foreigner 8-track. I bet I played that thing a gazillion times! I'm old!

  23. My favorite Christmas as a child was when I got a handmade wardrobe made by my Dad for my Barbie. It was out of wood with drawers and a hanging bar. On the hanging bar and in the drawers were all handmade clothes for Barbie made by my mother. I still wonder how in the world she got those little tiny sleeves set in.

  29. Love the fabric. What lovely memories. Money was was very thin, at our house. My best gift was learning some of the best gifts are not always bought. We spent one Christmas making everyone homemade gifts. Mother made doll clothes my sister's and me. She would stay up at night after everyone had gone to bed and work at her old treadle sewing machine.

  30. I love that little sleigh. That alone is quite a prize. The fabric is so adorable, and I need it! I don't have any memories of Christmases before my mother died when I was nine. After that, Christmas wasn't the same, but there was a wonderful one when I was a young mother. My husband gave me the HO gauge train I had wanted all my life. =)

  37. The sleigh and fabric are beautiful.

My favorite gift I rceived was an 18kt gold ring with a tear drop shape jade stone in it. I was 10 years old. We went to the movie on Christmas night and I was wearing my new ring and thought I was a big girl now that I had real jewelry. When we got home from the movie, the stone in my ring was gone. I was crushed. My mom called the theatre the next morning and they checked the vaccuum bags, and looked for it. No luck. Well, 42 years later, I am wearing the same ring with an amethest stone in it now. I had saved this setting for all of these years and I put it on during the holidays and it brings back alot of memories.

My most favorite gift as a child had to be my doll that had a button on her back. You could push the button and pull on her hair to make it long. Then you pushed another button and it would get short again.

I have now given the doll to my daughter. Hope she takes care of it for the next 40 years.

Santa left a shoebox which had the top wrapped separately from the bottom so I could open it without leaving any evidence (LOL). the box was filled with Barbie clothes and I probably played for 1/2 an hour before going back to bed. I remember a neighbor trying to tell me there was no Santa and I responded with "there's no way my parents could ever afford all the presents we get"!! Thanks for the giveaway and Merry Christmas.

I also got a cassette player from my mom. Well, the player came with some music. Little did my mom know the music the player came with was the "Stripper" by David Rose. I spent the entire Christmas Day pretending I was a stripper with my music & boa...My mom was horrified. I was kept busy for the day. I am laughing as I type this! It is so true!!

Happy Holidays to all! And to all a quilt night!

  93. Sandi: I am already a follower, and my most favorite on your Blog is The Tribute To Melvin!!!
While it wasn't a direct gift to me, it was a gift to my dying uncle (a male nurse)! A poem written by my husband to my beloved uncle who always worried about his children whom he cared for, you see these children were all physically disabled from one horrible disease or another. On my Uncle's last Christmas morning the poem was read to him by one of his doctors and while we all watched and listened all with tears, my beloved uncle cried the hardest of all (for his children). While it was not my gift under my tree, it was the best gift I ever had, and the title of the Poem which immortalizes nurses everywhere is simply called The Christmas Box! Thanks for sharing Melvin with us as I am sharing this memory with you.

I loved that little bear but when we moved off the farm when I was 11 years old (1957), the bear disappeared. 123. Came from Quilting Gallery...

Favorite childhood Christmas gift is easy. I was about 7 years old and had always been fascinated with Grandpa's trains, and one year while opening gifts we suddenly heard a train running upstairs. Grandpa asked me to go turn it off for him. But when I got upstairs the train that was running wasn't in the "train room", it was in MY ROOM! And in each car he had placed a card so that as the train passed, it said, "Merry Christmas Love Grandpa.." It's been almost 40 years, and I still own that train. I don't have room for a train set right now, but my Father In Law does. My train from Grandpa resides on My father in laws tracks so that it can be run regularly and kept in good shape. The worst thing for an old train is for it to sit and not run...

Thanks for the chance to win!

  178. When I was 8 or 10 my Dad gave me a little figurine trinket box. It was something he picked out himself, and you know how men are about doing that LOL. When my youngest daughter (now 31)was around that age she asked if she could set it on HER dresser for awhile.I admonished her to be VERY careful because it meant a great deal to me. It was misplaced, through no fault of hers, for nearly 25 years. I searched and searched for it to no avail. This past summer, said daughter was up in the attic searching for some of her things and happened to find it! Neither one of us can figure out how it got up there but after a good bath my little lady is back where she belongs....on MY dresser!
