Now the reason I was surprised that the rolls turned out so well is that the recipe involves yeast. That's one of those ingredients that if you don't get it just right then the yeast won't rise and you will not get yummy cinnamon rolls. I evidently got it right.........water temp was perfect and the yeast was fresh and oh, did the dough rise!!!
and cut it into slices...........
and filled these pans, plus two more 10 x 13 pans. Then I let the rolls rise again.
And while the rolls were baking, a brief but intense rain shower fell and when it was over the sun came out bright as could be. I just knew there might be a rainbow, so I grabbed my camera and sure enough there was one. Actually, there are two. If you look closely on the right, you can see that it is a double rainbow!
So I was really pleased and surprised that my cinnamon rolls turned out so well, and then I was pleased and surprised that there was a rainbow...........so I thought I would please and surprise one of you with a little fabric treat from my stash. I am cleaning and sorting and found these summery fabrics. I am going to make them into the little candlemat that I designed a few years ago. I don't need all the fabric so I have a fat quarter of the floral and three fat-eighth's, plus my "Candlelight" pattern, for one lucky winner!
Just leave your name and tell me if you have ever made cinnamon rolls. Easy as pie! I'll have my random number man draw a winner on July 12th at midnight. Good luck!
Sandi
Hello Sandi,
ReplyDeleteCinnamon Scrolls are a favourtie in our home. I make them in the Breadmaker. When our daughter was in New Zealand for a year, she came back for a visit half way and I had to have Cinnamon Scrolls made before I went to the Airport. As soon as she got in the car at the Airport I handed over a box with some in.
Just love rainbows, something special about them. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
Happy days.
Bev.
I make cinnamon rolls using my mom's recipe. I usually make two pans of regular dinner rolls and one pan of cinnamon rolls each batch. They are so yummy!! We don't add the frosting and we eat them with a Sunday dinner, not for breakfast (but they are good the next morning, too!). Your rolls look amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, my.....you make me ashamed to admit that the only cinnamon rolls that go in the oven at our house are the Pillsbury kind. :( Yours look absolutely scrumptious, though!
ReplyDeleteThese look so yummy! I have a favorite cinnamon roll recipe called Clone of Cinnabon with cream cheese frosting that I like to make every once in a while. Marianne H.
ReplyDeleteNow I love to eat the cinnamon rolls but I have only made pre made ones.
ReplyDeleteThe pans of rolls sure make me hungry for one.
Yes, I've made many pans of cinnamon rolls. Making them reminds me of my mother. Love the fragrance, love the taste, and am always disappointed when I have one somewhere else--the lesson being that people who make huge gorgeous cinnamon roles and sell them usually go for looks when it's what's inside that counts!
ReplyDeleteI have not made cinnamon rolls; however may have to learn. Where I lived before Florida there was a lovely Mennonite bakery and they made the cinnamon rolls, caramel cake and some of so fine cookies.
ReplyDeleteI have never made homemade rolls, but I sure would love your recipe. It looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteWe made cinnamon rolls in my Family Life class in high school. I think I have only made them once since then..but I have baked a lot of bread since then.
ReplyDeleteYes, I've made cinnamon rolls. They are my favorite pastry.
ReplyDeleteYours look wonderful!!
Merritt
I haven't made cinnamon rolls lately but after seeing yours, I think I may need to make some this week! I can almost smell and taste yours! ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteYes, I have made cinnamon buns. but today I made 2 dozen brown buns, 2 loaves of brown bread and 2 loaves of cinnamon raisin bread.
ReplyDeleteno but yours look yummie thanks for the chance
ReplyDeleteI make them from my Mom's recipe but noy often as I stuff myself.
ReplyDeleteI might have made cinnamon rolls years ago (can't remember), but haven't baked for years since my son became the resident baker. He often makes things with yeast and they always come out perfect! Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Sandi.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely.. I've tried many different recipes over the years, but I found a recipe off 17 and baking for pull apart lemon bread.. the dough consistently comes out amazing..soft and fluffy, that I decided to try it for cinnamon rolls, and let me tell you... those were some AMMAAAZZZINNGG rolls.. the only bad part was I had made half the recipe and only had one pan and we were arguing (my sister, brother adn I ) who got the last one. So that is now my go to recipe.
ReplyDeleteI was so hoping for a recipe! Could you post the one you used? These look just like the ones my mother-in-law used to make before she was unable to cook anymore. They look delicious!
ReplyDeleteOh boy do those rolls look good..the one thing I think I have not attempted to make.
ReplyDeleteI've tried cinnamon rolls but I'd rather be quilting. I love to eat cinnamon rolls, but alas, yeast and I are not good friends.
ReplyDeleteYes,I made cinnamon rolls using my friend`s recipe.I make them for breakfast in holidays seasons when all the family are here.
ReplyDeleteYours look delicious!
I have made cinnamon rolls severaltimes but yeast stills scares me - yours look so delicious!
ReplyDeleteConfession: Cinnamon rolls are my favorite. I don't have birthday cake...I get cinnamon rolls. But working too many hours a week I have made a great discovery...Try Rhodes Frozen Cinnamon rolls. Put them out overnite and the next morning pop them in the oven...I'm not a traitor--I so admired those that make them from scratch...I'm just juggling those apples for a little quilting time;) Be sweet...
ReplyDeleteI can almost smell those rolls from here. Yes ... a larger bowl would be a great idea. LOL
ReplyDeleteIsn't there some special wish you are to make over a double rainbow?
Used to make them.
ReplyDeleteI make cinnamon rolls about every 8 weeks, we have them for a late breakfast and then I share the rest with my neighbours, if I did not we would stuff ourselves stupid with them.
ReplyDeleteI used to make them when my son's stilled lived at home but that is many years ago now.
ReplyDeleteI remember one of my Aunts from Norway came for a visit here in the states many years ago and made cinnamon rolls EVERY morning for us kids since she couldn't speak English but she wanted us to know she was so glad she was visiting and we were too!!!!! It was the best 3 weeks I can still smell them and that was 30 plus years ago. I think once the heat dies down I will make them to show my grandson how much I enjoy him visiting grandmom. Thanks for bringing back a nice memory. Eliz
ReplyDeleteYour rolls look so delicious. I have made them once, but they were not as good as I hoped.
ReplyDeleteHiya!!! Nope, not much of a baker, really not much of a cook at all. But my microwave and I are on a first name basis, Mikey and I. Lol. Those do look scrumptious though. I can see them sitting right on my tummy too. Thanks for having the giveaway. Blessed be, hugs!!! Pam

ReplyDeleteI haven't made cinnamon scrolls before but looking at yours makes me hungry! The kids are home on holidays so perhaps we'll give some a try.
ReplyDeleteYes, I've certainly made cinnamon rolls and the last ones turned out just like yours - running over the edge of the bowl when rising! I've had flops too - I just never know. I'm sure your kids and everyone else enjoyed yours Sandi!
ReplyDeleteI have made cinnamon rolls, even from scratch, but not in a long time! Did those smell better than the soy candle? =) They look so yummy, even before the icing was added!

ReplyDeleteI have made cinnamon many times in my life but none lately. After looking at your's I think it's about time to give them another try.
Yes I make homemade cinnamon rolls sometimes. Now that I have a bread machine I use it to make the dough and it's easier than it used to be.
ReplyDeleteWell I have never made cinnamon rolls but my husband has. Come to think of it, he hasn't made any in quite some time. Maybe I need to drop a hint! lol Thank you for the chance to win!
