Every evening for the past few nights, I've been playing in my box of blue and white snowflake themed fabrics. I cut two 5" charm squares and one 9 1/2" square from each piece of fabric in my stash. I have an idea for a quilt that will combine the charm squares with the 9 1/2" squares. I made two piles of the charm squares.........one for me and one for one of you.................
I promised there would be a giveaway today and what you see in the photo is what you could win. I think there are 40 charm squares.....all different and also a bit of fabric and a pre-cut wool snowman in case you'd like to make my "Charlie's Snowman" quilt. There is also a cute little ceramic candy dish and I might just add some chocolate to it when I put these goodies in the mail. So........start leaving your name and e-mail link and just tell me if you've ever built a real snowman. I'll have my Random Number Man (a.k.a. my husband)draw a lucky winner on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 6:00 p.m. The Random Number Man is a little "under the weather" but hopefully he'll be better by the end of the week. Because of that, things are little "off-schedule" around here and I don't have my clay project finished. I'll be working on that this morning and will get it posted later this afternoon. There will be a clay "carrot nose, coal eyes and raisins" for the snowman's mouth that will be included in the winning package. Go now and add your name for a chance to ........... chase away the January Blues!
Sandi
The giveaway is closed. Winner will be announced noon, Sunday, Feb. 5th. :-)
And the winner is..........GrammaSheri at TheDesertRat :-)
Oh, I sure hope your hubbie feels better soon! I love those blues - my problem with blues is that I like them so much that they do not ever get a chance to stay on my workroom shelves!
ReplyDeleteIn my childhood I build several snowmans. But it seems that we don't get that much snow here anymore. Apart from last year. My husband and I build a huge snowman and then got in a snowball-fight.
ReplyDeleteLove the blues and love to win them so here is my e-mail (don't type the *'s: bjm*verstegen@home*.nl
Oh this is such a lovely giveaway, Sandi ! As a matter of fact, it's just starting snowing here in Belgium, it's freezing also but I just LOVE that crispy time of the year (I'm a winter girl)... So, Crossing my fingers (and toes) I could be the lucky winner !
ReplyDeleteHeartfully,
NADINE
XOXOXOXOXO
(best get well wishes to your husband!)
Thanks for the great giveaway Sandi. The blue fabrics are gorgeous. I don't have very much blue in my stash. This seems a bit strange considering I have three boys! I'd love to make your Charlie's Snowman.
ReplyDeleteHope your husband is feeling better soon.
I was born and raised in southern Arizona, but was able to get in on the snowman-making thing for a couple of winters when we lived in Oregon (I was 5-6 years old at the time). Other than that, my snowman-making has been done with fabric. Still fun, and lots warmer!
ReplyDeleteAm toying with the idea of making my version of Charlie in a southwest theme - making him look like he's made out of tumbleweeds, with a cowboy hat and a kerchief around his neck. Whattaya think?
What beautiful fabric , a lovely present !!!!! Hope your husband is better now. Greetings from France in snow, our first snow this winter!!!!!
ReplyDeleteNow let me think...can I remember that far back! Yes!! I use to make snowmen, not done one for years though. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI have made several snowmen in my lifetime but lately, we haven't gotten enough snow to make one! Please enter me in your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes I build it every year when there is enough snow.I'm in late fifties now, but having snowman in the garden is something special to me. Thanks for such a nice giveaway.
ReplyDeleteLove blues! Such a wonderful give away! This is normally the first thing we do when there is finally snow! Great family fun. Sadly we have never really much snow where I live. But just now it is snowing, yeah! So the snowmanbuilding seems to be just around the corner!!!
ReplyDeleteMy Snowman building experience is very limited. Jackson, MS where I grew up gets ice - snow is rare, yet I do have a childhood memory of the magical year we built a Snowman!, ate snow ice cream and stayed home from school for 3 days. Such fun!
ReplyDeleteSandi,
ReplyDeleteI have built a snowman, but it's been a long long time. I've been living in Florida since 1984. But when a little girl in Ohio, my sister and I made many a snowman. Sometimes, I miss it, but not too often. I'd love that pile of blue you are giving away.
tp
What a beautiful giveaway! I love the blues of winter and there is nothing better than snowmen. I've made hundreds of them in my day. My hubby and I have built several together in our married life and I always manage to borrow his winter hat for the snowman. What great fun, we haven't had enough snow or the right kind of snow to build one yet this year. It is NW Pennsylvania and today will be 50 degrees! Of course, I'll take it!!! I still have some of my snowmen out from Christmas and there are some I leave out year round. I collect snowmen. Hoping your hubby is feeling better real soon, Sandi. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteYes I have! Its been a while though. I live in the south and we don't get enough snow to make a real nice snowman but every few years ;o) And I don't like to play in it like I use to lol! Thanks for the chance to win all the beautiful fabric. Sarah

ReplyDeleteWell duh! I forgot to tell about my snowman. Well we were small, we use to build them in our side yard, we were right beside the church. I think the church goers got a kick of seeing snowmen every Sunday. We would build them on Saturdays, just for them. That is about the only thing good about the snow to me.
ReplyDeleteLove the blues!
tisgingy@msn.com
I've built lots of snowmen and snowwomen! I'm waiting to build one now with our grandson - a snowman standing on its head! Hope your hubby is feeling better. ~Jeanne
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Upper Michigan. I have built lots of snowmen and snow forts and tunnels. Would love to build more with your snowman and snow fabric! count me in.
ReplyDeleteI am liking blue more and more as I get older-maybe because it looks so good with my grey hair! Thanks for the giveaway of January blues!
ReplyDeleteGrowing up in Southern New Mexico, there were very few snowmen made. Your choice of blues is just wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHaving lived in the north for most of my life, I have made many snowmen in my days. This winter has been so mild that I doubt Frosty will be making us a visit this year. I guess I need to win this prize so I can make a quilted snowman. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteHi:
ReplyDeleteI live in the northwest of Spain, just on the coast so it is almost impossible built a real snowmen here...
By the way, I love your blue fabrics
I don't get a chance to see much snow anymore - Thanks for letting me add my name to the list
ReplyDeleteHere in PA, we always get a good 'snowman' snow sometime in the winter, and they are such fun to make. Thanks for the giveaway. Kathie L in allentown
ReplyDeleteLiving in Minnesota, we usually have lots of snowman building material. Well we are short on snow this year, but I have memories of building snowmen both in my childhood and more recently with my grandchildren. The blues are wonderful and I think they would love it at my house.
ReplyDeleteI *have* built many a snow man before ... and woman and child, too! And igloos and forts and all kinds of things -- I think we even built a snow cat and dog, one year! I hope your hubby is feeling better soon. And thank you for the chance! :)
ReplyDeleteHi yes i have built snowmens and snowladys.
ReplyDeleteI love your blues.
Thank you for a nice blog to follow.
The last snowman (lady) I (helped) build was 2 years ago. You are never to old, I was 67 and the snowlady was a bride!! Lots of fun and laughs. She even had a fir bough tiara.
ReplyDeleteWould love to be entered into your drawing and Thanks!
I have never built a real snowman! Where I live there is seldom snow. When we do get it there is very little. I have seen my kids build one that is the size of three stacked golf balls. So I just make things that are snowman related. This is a wonderful gift from you, Sandi. Tell your DH that I wish him well and I mean that both ways. Sarah in OK
ReplyDeleteThe blues are wonderful and make a great charm pack. I have made only a few snowmen. It doesn't snow often down here in the south, but when it does I make sure I go out and make a snowman. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I hope you will show us how to make the clay nose and all...last time we had a snow here in SC, our oldest son (31) and I got out and made a snow fort! Heehee! We had a ball!
ReplyDeleteHi Sandi:) I would love to be included in the random drawing for the blues :) And yes I have many times built snowmen and snow forts...actually I still help my grandkids build snowmen So much fun!!! Hope your husband gets better quickly.
ReplyDeleteHugs
I always loved to built snowmen in the yard... as a child and even as an adult with my kids. Thanks for the chance to chase the winter blues away... love this idea!! Hope your husband is feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteBlue is my favorite color and I love snowmen! What a better combination! Love your snowman quilt and thanks for a chance in the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI was going to say not to put me in the giveaway BUT I don't have much in the way of blue fabrics, so this would be a good addition to my stash. I also would try to do your snowman...probably not for this year, but for next! YES...I have made many snowmen when living in NJ. In southern DE, the only snow that would have been good for snowmen was last year and I was so annoyed that we HAD so much snow here, that making snowmen was not even on my radar screen!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteOh yes, have built many a real snowman - great fun! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteThey are a precious fabrics, definitely the world revolves around the blue, the color of the sky, which is a beautiful color.
ReplyDeleteI've never had the opportunity to make a real snowman, because in my country there is no snow. But if I made snowmen in fabric. Thanks for the opportunity in your drawing.
happy day
Yes, I've built several..but not this year. After today January 2012 will be history. Thanks for the chance to win your wonderful charm pack and snowman.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the blue giveaway.
ReplyDeleteThose will be welcome to my blue Dear Jane fabrics.
Hope your husband is better.
Hi!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
Of course, living in Northern Canada, we always have snow in Winter and of course we've built snowmen!
Once we had a little family in the front yard, when our kids were young!
Take care, Leslie
Nothing makes me hapier than watching snow falling from the sky, which is very short in supply in WI this year. These fabrics would certainly add the festive flavor that I crave in the winter months.
ReplyDeleteI live in the North and have built many snowmen. Next time it snows I think I will have the grands over for a snowman party!
ReplyDeleteI have built many snowpeople through the years, but not any lately. We barely had any snow here this winter!
ReplyDeleteSandy A
I have made a few real snowmen but they are usually short. Snow is really heavy.! Your fabric will definetly chase away the blues.
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous fabric! And I love the snowman quilt! I want to make one of my own once I get caught up on some of my UFO's!
ReplyDeleteI have a snowman doorhanging that I love!
I grew up in England and we never had enough snow to build a snowman. Since coming to Canada there have been many snowman building days over the years. What a fabulous giveaway, I love all the different 'blues'.
ReplyDeleteI must have made hundreds of snowmen! Living in Norway - before I settled here in the tropics - I do not miss the winter. :) I'm into blues these days and I won't miss this chance to win your gorgeous blue squares. Thanks for such a wonderful giveaway!

What a lovely bunch of comments!! If you are reading this and you did not leave your e-mail, double-check your comment to make sure that I can reach you if you are the winner! My husband is feeling better. Arthritis in his knee flared up and he could hardly walk. I am ready to post the photos of my clay project and my camera battery is dead. Can't post til it's recharged. So sorry!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was 15(& living in southern N.S.W. Australia) We had snow on my b'day. Built 1 then, but now I'm in the tropics the only snowmen I build are fabric ones.
ReplyDeleteLove these fabrics, I'm sure I could put them to good 'snowman' use.

Hi Sandi
ReplyDeleteI have not seen snow yet, so a bit hard to make a snowman. Maybe I'll just have to make a wall hanging instead,
No, I've never built a snowman.I live in California. Your giveaways are always so much fun and generous. Thank you for the chance to win your beautiful blues.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in Minnesota so made my share of snowmen!! Lots of snowmen, lots of fun, and lots of frostbit hands. These memories are among my most favorite! Thanks for a chance at the giveaway - no snow in Texas but a girl can dream - right! Hope your husband will soon be feeling back to normal!
ReplyDeleteThis fabric would fit right in with a project my hubbie and I were discussing. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI haven't built a real snowman since I was a child. Have embroidered lots of them though.

I grew up in NW Iowa where we had lots of snow and could make lots of snowmen. Such fun! My home for the last 53 years has been Oregon's Willamette Valley where we just occasionally get a dusting of snow so not so good for building a snowman. I could make a nice snowman if I won your beautiful giveaway!! I'll keep my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteOh my! I'm right now collecting 'icy, snowy' fabrics for a quilt using star blocks. These would have a place of honor in the quilt! VermontPines at aol dot com
ReplyDeleteSorry your hubby isn't feeling well, it seems to be "going around" right now.
ReplyDeleteI love snowmen and have several in my collection, would love the blues and the candy dish if I was the lucky winner.
An early birthday present for this Aquarius?
Oh, what a fun giveaway! And yes, I build snowmen . . . I've got almost 8 feet of snow accumulation this winter, and we've still got 3 months to go - lol! Thanks for the opportunity to win!
ReplyDeletelvitzthum@alaska.net

Mr. Sandi feel better...smile.
ReplyDeleteLove the snowmen. Wished we would get a sprinkling of snow in Texas
I love your snowman quilt. I made 'real' snowmen the few times it snowed in Texas, when I was growing up. We'd also make snow ice cream. Yum! Now that I live in Illinois, I don't make snowmen anymore. Of course, we don't have any snow at the moment, either. LOL. I'd love to win, thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I hope I win. Those blues are so tempting! I love winter blues (the color, not the yuckies!). I am happy that January is over and I can get to the better part of the year :) I lived in Alaska for a few years and built plenty of snowmen there! Glacier blue is my favorite color :) Thanks for the giveaway
ReplyDeleteI have built many a snowman... I love the blues that you've chosen. I would also love to win them! (Fingers crossed!) Thanks for the generous giveaway!
ReplyDeletePre-cut, lovely blue fabric and maybe some candy? Oh, do please count me in. Love the story behind the snowman quilt and included a link to last week's post on my Tutorial Thursday post.
ReplyDeleteAs for a snowman story...Mom does remind me from time to time of the cold snowman we made one year. I was quite small. After the snowman was finished I raced in the house to get one of my jackets. The jacket was necessary so Mr. Snowman wouldn't get cold that night in the dark. If I remember right, Mom replaced my 'good' jacket with one of Dad's old ones so Mr. Snowman was indeed warm on that cold and snowy night.
Great giveaway - thanks for the chance! I've had the joy of building many snowmen. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat blues!
ReplyDeleteNo snow this year yet but last year we built a snowman and an igloo!
Being a fellow Minnesotan, I have built many snowmen in my life. My husband and daughter built a "snowbunny" the Saturday before Easter a couple years ago! Not this year though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity to enter you give away.
I have built a snowman as a child, as a mother, and a grandmother and aunt, and great aunt. I also love snowmen for Chrismas decorations as you can leave them all winter. Beautiful gift. And Bless your heart for cheering someone who needed it - you have a good heart.
ReplyDeleteI loved to make snowmen. Snow angels were fun to make also. Love your give a way and your blog.

Lovely giveaway, thank you..
ReplyDeleteWith four kids we had lots and lots of snowpeople.
Sure did build a snowman or two in my day. We had big snows in Texas when I was growing up. And guess what!!! Blue is my absolute favorite color.
ReplyDeleteLove the give away. I'm not going to enter though. Two reasons, you've already gifted me a nice surprise and #2, I don't have winter blues. lolol We barely even have winter this year. So I'd rather someone else win that would be cheered up by your awesome giveaway!! Your a great friend Sandi and an awesome person. Hugs
ReplyDeleteSharon
I built many snowman here in South Dakota. The most fun ones were built with my two daughters. I'm very happy to by-pass snowmen this winter. I'm enjoying our lovely warm winter this year.
ReplyDeleteYes, we made snowmen when I was growing up! Now I prefer fabric snowmen!!! Thanks for the great giveaway and hope hubby is feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteBlue is my favorite color, and snowmen, and snowflakes is my winter time theme. I even have a snowman wind chime that hangs in my kitchen year round. I grew up in Michigan, so we made snowmen all the time growing up. Some years my dad had to help lift the body parts they were so big and heavy. One year he even had to get the ladder to put the head on. That snowman lasted almost a month after all the rest of the snow had melted!
ReplyDeleteI love BLUES, I'm already a follower
ReplyDeleteThe first time my children saw snow we were vacationing in Franklin NC. It was on the day we were leaving but we made two little snowmen and left them there to watch over the cabin :-) Fun memories.
ReplyDeleteLove those blue fabrics! I heart snowmen - have them all over the house every winter. And I make a real snowman outside every winter too. Made one last week with my friend's 2 year old twins. We had been reading (at least 100 times!) a book called The Sneezy Snowman so we had to make a real one to look like Sneezy - carrot nose & all!
ReplyDeleteThe winter lover in me loves snowmen & snowman fabric is the best!!! thanks for the chance :)
ReplyDeleteI am so in love with blue - what a great prize pack! I have built a snowman before, but they were few and far between because I grew up in the South. We have recently moved to PA, but... almost no snow!! I have a feeling March and April are going to make up for it!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I've built a snowman, many, many of them. Thanks formthenopportunity. To win some beautiful fabric.
ReplyDeleteI love snowmen! I've built many snowmen - some of them were even snowbunnies. Thanks for the great giveaway!

ReplyDeleteLove snow men
ReplyDeletehttp//richardquilts.blogspot.com
Though we get an occasional snow around here I've never built a snowman. I have always been one to curl up with a book and hot chocolate on a snow day than go tromping about in it like my siblings. kcarlson1152[at]hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteHave I ever built a real snowman? Absolutely! Probably at least one a year for my whole life and probably more than one a year when I was a child. I have few pictures from my childhood, but there is one of me and my sister in the front yard with our snowmen. Love the blues!
ReplyDeleteLove all your blue fabric and would love to be entered for your giveaway.
ReplyDeleteYes, I've built a real snowman and had fun doing it! Here's a picture of a snowman that I just love; it was on my friend's blog, and next time we get snow I think I'll try a snowman like this one:
http://kathie.squarespace.com/a-sparrows-home/2012/1/19/every-day.html
It's been a few years now, but yes, I've definitely built a real snowman! We used to build dozens of them in the yard every year, and we always tried to talk my dad into helping because then we could make them a lot taller.
ReplyDeleteikkinlala AT yahoo DOT ca
Blue is my favorite color so love the chance to enter this giveaway. I've never built a snowman. Most of my years have been in Florida where the rare snowfall usually melts quickly. Though lived in SLC, and the Utah snow is lovely, only learned snowball technology!
ReplyDeleteI definitely have built many snowmen over the years. I have loved this tutorial Sandi. Thank you for sharing and thank you for the chance at the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't had any real snow this year which is highly unusual for NY. I retired 2 years ago from teaching nursery school and haven't made a snowman since then. I loved playing in the snow when my children were little (they are now 23 and 26). When they got to old to remember how to have fun in the snow, I rode sleds and made snowmen with my nursery school friends.
ReplyDeleteLovely giveaway. I love the snowman. It's freezing here but no snow.
ReplyDeleteHope your husband is feeling better.
In my childhood I build several snowmen, very often with a little help from daddy.
ReplyDeleteLast year I build a snowman with the cutest little man I know (2 years old). We both found it was the greatest snowman on earth, bit when DSIL came home he asked "What on earth is that?" He has no fantasy.
Love you blues, so please count me in, and thank you for bringing me back to my childhood for a while.
Do I still get an chance if I have never seen snow?!?!?
ReplyDeleteI live in Adelaide, South Australia and we do NOT get snow and I have never been to the snow so no snowman building. Hope this doesn't count against me. I would love to make a snowman quilt for my brother who lives in Europe.
Wow.loves the fabrics charm square but I think I had missed the chance to win it :(
ReplyDeleteSending prayers to you and your husband to feel better. Blue is my favorite color.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to be the winner Sandi! Will put those pretty snowflakes to good use...promise!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
