Sending "Heart-felt" thanks for all your support!!

Gee, can you guess what this giveaway might involve? That's right - a little woolfelt and some patterns and threads and, of course, a notebook for keeping track of projects and friends!!

And THANK GOODNESS for FRIENDS!! And I mean, those I see regularly, some I see only occasionally, and some I have never met but feel like I have because we chat on-line! Only today, Kathy, who is in my Wooly Buddies group, sent me an e-mail that she had received the Sock Swap that I sent her. She apologized for being late in acknowledging that she had received it and said "Life just got in the way". I agreed wholeheartedly with her. Although, it's not really that life "gets in the way" so much as that "life just happens". And family and home are the things that take precedence and the blogging and quilting have to follow along. So it was for me today. Not this morning, nor this afternoon, nor this evening, did this day go as I thought it would. There were little glitches here and there but I'm finally here and so, get ready to start commenting..........only one more prize after this one!! And the question for this one is...... What is the type of stitching that relaxes you the most? For me, it's working with wool and/or woolfelt. There's something about it that makes me just want to keep stitching and I lose all my troubles in no time if I get really involved in stitching. I already noted that I love handquilting and embroidery but they require a little more careful concentration and woolwork just seems to come easy for me.
See you soon with the last prize of this anniversary celebration!!

Sandi

  2. Hi Sandi
My favourite type of stitching is all types of embroidery... a piece where there is lots of variety and not all the same stitch!

  3. Oh...most DEFINITELY working with wool / wool felt is my favorite. It's less than a year since I discovered this, but it is truly a love of mine. That is a FABULOUS prize and I just KNOW it would be so loved and SO happy to be home with me in Delaware!!! :)

  5. I love to do redwork embroidery for relaxing. Not much to really think about when doing it and it's portable.

  6. I relax when I sew but wool felting is slowly becoming an obsession. It has rekindled my embroidery skills and I like the fact the results are seen quickly.

  7. I used to love to do cross stitching, but now mostly love to hand quilt. It is relaxing to me. I don't get to do it often, because, as you mentioned "life gets in the way". And it is hot - we live in Florida, and I cannot keep that quilt on me for very long :-)

  9. I love stitching with my embroidery machine. There is something so fascinating to watch the machine put all those stitches in place. I especially love "in the hoop" projects, because they are usually thing that I would not other wise be able to make. I am also enjoying the learning process of working with wool and wool felt....and that is thanks to you Sandi.

  10. Another beautiful giveaway!
My favorite stitching next to creating quilts would be cross-stitch. Its really the only other one I do.

    Thanks!

  11. I've never tried wool yet, but I know I will eventually. The most relaxing part of quilting is hand quilting. I just love watching the needle go in and out and then seeing the design start developing.

  12. I love to redwork. I enjoy just following the lines and watching the design appear. Very relaxing physically and mentally. I really enjoy sitting outside on a cool night and watching the kids run around while I stitch up a new design.

  13. I've not yet worked with wool, but I did buy myself a small kit to see if I'd like it. I'm pretty sure that I would. I just love hand stitching the binding down on the back of a quilt! THat is my most relaxing time! That's why I think I'd do well with applique or wool applique. If you have any tips to share about working with wool, I'd appreciate it. I have no sources locally for it...everything is purchased online.

  14. I have two favorites, embroidery and wool. I made one wallhanging with an embroidery saying in the middle and a wool sunflower with a crow on top. And I am starting another for Christmas - a Dickens saying with wooland holly, candy canes, Christmas balls all around. Hugs, Denny in PA

  15. I think hand embroidery is my favorite, but there are many other things I'd like to try!

  16. I've admired your wool work for some time now and would love to give it a try. But my relaxation handwork is definitely knitting or crocheting. I always have some project by my chair for evening work, whether it's a sweater for one of the kids, baby hats for the new babies at the hospital, an oddball blanket for the knittinghelp forum, or an afghan for a wedding gift...always something in progress. I like to have something to show for the time I just sit and relax.

    Another great prize!

  17. Can't believe 8 days are almost gone! This has been fun and brought up some old memories. I guess I would have to say Redwork for relaxation. All one color and just follow the lines. plus it can go with you. Wool felt is one craft that I have never tried, really like the looks of it and maybe someday.

  18. The stitching that relaxes me the most is my cross stitching. You wouldn’t think so since it is “counted” cross stitching, but for some reason it does. I haven’t done anything by way of wool felt and would love to win this prize, so then I could try something new. (Like I have time to start trying new things- not).

  19. The stitching that is most relaxing to me is quilting, but I think that is true only because it is what I am most familiar with. I have been wanting to try wool applique for so long, but there are no shops around here that carry wool. I would love to win this prize and start on something with wool!

  20. I have never tried wool felt, but I imagine I would like it. I love to relax in front of the tv with handwork. Hand quilting, redwork, applique, bindings, it doesn't matter as long as it is handwork. Winona

  22. I must have went to bed to early yesterday and missed this post. Lately I have been trying some crazy quilt blocks. Very relaxing and I love trying the different stitches out.

  23. I love to just sit and handquilt. I find it very relaxing and I love the way the quilt looks just sitting there in the frame!

  24. I like all types of embroidery but I'm just learning to do it on felt.

  25. I've always enjoyed hand embroidery; I find it very peaceful. I have only done two wool projects--a pincushion and a journal cover. I really enjoyed doing both. I'd love to do some more. Congratulations on your anniversary!

  26. Oooooh! Love that felt! Very nice! My all time favorite would have to be hand embroidery, then next would be working with felt. It is so very forgiving and easy to stitch on.

  27. I would have to say that embroidery is most relaxing to me. In the last few years, I have taken it up again and have really been enjoying it. I have been collecting some wool and want to start stitching on it.

  28. I love embroidery. Whenever I get a chance to sit and relax, I have some hand sewing to do.Hope you have had a super great birthday. Sharon

  30. Once again, you have a lovely array of gifts.

Handwork of any kind is very relaxing for me but my favorite is embroidery, and crocheting runs a close second. I have not worked on wool, although I want to but I have done that type of work on felt which I enjoyed. I bought a wool jacket at the thrift shop which I plan to cut up and try it.

    Happy Blogiversary celebration!!

  31. I like stitcheries but applique probably is very relaxing too as you are just going around the edges, so I'll say that too. Have just started playing with hexagons, and that's good too. And I have a pattern using the wool felt but haven't got any yet, so I'm still to try that one out. Gee, guess thats too many favourites... as long as I'm stitchin is the main thing!

  32. I relax when I sit in my chair and do some stitchery. And if I use only one colour thread I don't have to think at all :)

  33. I love quilting but, since I am a hand quilter, too much of it at a time is painful for the top of the finger. Stitching the patchwork pieces is quite relaxing because all the thinking is already done while cutting and of course the most mindless of all - the basting of shapes for English Paper Piecing - beats them all to the top.

As far as working with wool is concerned, I'd love to do it - I find the primitive look you can obtain with it charming. I was just introduced to felting last week and it looks fun, I'll definitely do more of it, so please, let me win ;-).

Thanks and Happy Birthday to you and your dad!

  34. I have always wanted to try to make a felt penny rug. Some of the patterns I've seen are just beautiful. Never could understand why in the old days, people used these lovely items to put their candles on them and then all the wax would drip? My area does not cater to this type of fabric art, so winning the felt bundle would give me a chance to give it a try. Thanks for your Give A Way and Congrats on your One Year Anniversary.

  35. I love handwork and wish my stitching looked as nice as some of the Australian embroidery I see. I enjoy embroidery on crazy quilts as well as redwork. I just like to have a needle and thread in my hands.

  36. I'd love to try making something with that felt, Sandi! Currently, I've been working on some redwork blocks and am find the embroidery very relaxing. I also find plain hand piecing relaxing.

  40. I love any kind of embroidery. I started it as a little kid when Mom was embroidering just about everything we wore! Such beautiful work. I got into cross-stitch as I got older, but I do really enjoy both.

    Thank you!

  41. Cross stitch was the first stitch my mum taught me and it's so simple to do. I can't go past this for relaxing stitching. Most other types of stitching I do require a bit too much concentration!

  42. I've always loved embroidery, and at one point did a lot of cross-stitch. I, too, enjoy working with wool. It is so forgiving and always looks wonderful when finished! Thanks for another great giveaway - what fun!

  43. I can relax with any kind of stitching – unless I am following a hard-to-read pattern with poor lighting. Embroidery is probably best because of the variety of colors and stitches. Of course, it can be used to embellish other kinds of sewing as well.

I have often worked in careers (like teaching) in which it is heard to see what has been accomplished that day. Sewing shows what has been done all the time. Of course, I also spend my share of time with the ripper, but we won’t mention that.

I don’t know who first said this to me, or who the original source might be: Life is what happens while we are planning our future.

  44. I love working with wool felt. For relaxation currently I am making a hexagon quilt that goes every where with me.

  45. I love to do machine piecing. I also love x stitching, but it takes soooo long to get to a finished project.

  46. Buttonhole appliqué is very relaxing to me. Even if the stitches aren’t perfect the result always looks great. It’s fast and easy and doesn’t eat up too many brain cells.

  47. Oh WOW wouldI love to win the wool. I am going into the hospital to have a lung removed and want to bring some hand sewing to do while I am there. This would be great for my candle mat patterns.

  49. Again congratulations....
I don't quiet figure out what is the exact patern but felt and silk is something you can make beautiful things off...

When I read tea and cakes I thought it was something to make cakes with....

  50. I didn't look well. I clicked on the price above tea and cakes. But now I understand where the felt came from....

    You are very generous....

  51. I'm confused. I now really clicked on the button for tea and cake and to be certain I did it two times.
But again its the prize for heart-felt I see on my screen.

I think you are kidding us ;).

But if its only a misstake I also am interested in tea and cake.

That sounds so lovely and I like the teatime in the afternoon. I don't have a clue what it is but... I like suprises....

  52. hi Sandi - my favorite type of stitching is by machine. However, seeing all the lovely things you have done with wool, I am interested in learning to work with felt and other wool. The more I see,the more I think I would like to try it.

thanks for all your generosity..and happy anniversary!!!
