It was my first quilt and I secretly traced the hand of each child in the class with the help of the music teacher. I then appliquéd each of the handprints and embroidered the child's name under it. The center square was a class photo that was taken for the yearbook. On the center square I embroidered the teachers name, the school & school year. When my son presented her with the quilt she was so surprised and pleased that she had tears in her eyes. My son was so very proud to receive her hugs.Angiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04377930151339595023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7739974925779691361.post-33373089013650164852009-06-08T15:25:44.458-05:002009-06-08T15:25:44.458-05:00My best memory but may be the saddest when my youn...My best memory but may be the saddest when my youngest child was only 1 my mother had a heart attack and was very ill. So while she was recuperating I made her a scrap quilt in all of the materials that were left from her grandchildren's quilts. Unfortunately she died within the first four weeks of the initial heart attack. But what make the memory so happy was I had her quilt at the funeral draped over her coffin and our little girl got up and was walking around the coffin. This was the first time she had walked without holding our hands. Every day in those last few weeks my Mum would ask If Gabrielle was walking and Gabrielle got up to show her Nana she was walking nowAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17962305068597976545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7739974925779691361.post-134844855422723142009-06-08T08:43:29.496-05:002009-06-08T08:43:29.496-05:00Years ago, after having 2 sons, I had a girl and d...Years ago, after having 2 sons, I had a girl and delighted in making a little baby quilt for her, all in pinks. This story I don't really remember myself, but my mother liked to tell it. She belonged to a group of quilters who would hand quilt to raise money for a club of which they were all members. She was the only one with a preschool child, but she took me with her every week with strict instructions about my behavior. One week I asked to quilt. They were quilting for a member of the group instead of a customer, and she laughed and told my mother to let me quilt. I didn't make many stitches before getting bored and skipping off to do something else. My mother sat down at my spot and got ready to take out my stitches. The quilt owner asked her to please leave that baby's stitches alone because they would hold a special memory for her.Owl Ladyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06076308720151716726noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7739974925779691361.post-10821249153118740452009-06-06T19:15:41.151-05:002009-06-06T19:15:41.151-05:00My favorite quilt memory--oh my, there are so many...My favorite quilt memory--oh my, there are so many. I lived in a very small town of about 500 up in the mountains. Not much in the line of quilting stores there. I attened the Pacific International Quilt Show in No. Calif. My eyes were as wide as half dollars. I just couldn't believe how much quilting was out there. Good thing I had a hotel for 3 days and I still didn't get to see everything. From fabric to the lovely quilts people created. It was an eye opener for me and yes, I'm hooked! I hope to attend again this year, god willing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7739974925779691361.post-69529704335777562682009-06-04T16:26:38.315-05:002009-06-04T16:26:38.315-05:00Sandi

She started a tradition of giving each of the grandchildren a quilt for their high school graduation. Now that she is gone, my sisters and I have continued that traditon by making what would be her great grandhchildren graduation quilts.Bjwalsh101https://www.blogger.com/profile/13283757010580749027noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7739974925779691361.post-84464405932207739882009-06-02T12:18:35.102-05:002009-06-02T12:18:35.102-05:00Great story ,Sandi. They are all crocheted, granny square style blankets - one is single bed size, black background with lots of bright colours in the centers, and then there is a cot size blanket (for when I was a baby!) with a yellow background and different colours in the centres and then there is a pink and white one which was made for me as a doll cot blanket with gorgeous three dimensional crocheted flowers on it. <br />Now you've inspired me to go and blog about them, as they are lovely blankets containing lots of work, talent and love! I'll just have to wait for the camera to come home so I can take some photos.Janellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08032066332061315148noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7739974925779691361.post-2139182629903637102009-05-31T11:21:54.015-05:002009-05-31T11:21:54.015-05:00I did a baby-quilt.
