A little celebration!

This past Monday was Memorial Day here in the U.S.  I reached a little milestone that day. It was Memorial Day of 2008 when I first began blogging, just a few weeks after my dad, Melvin, passed away. You've seen photos of him, and of the quilts he bought at farm auctions. Most of them have appeared on my "What's on the line?" feature on Mondays. You've also seen photos of my mother, Mary, and quilts she's made and bought, too. If you follow my blog, you know that she fell and broke her hip in March and has moved to a Care Center. And things have been so busy because of her move and health issues and family stuff that I just haven't blogged regularly at all! So, I've been telling you all that I'm getting back in the swing of things and I am!!  Have made some plans to share some fun stuff this summer including some "Christmas in July" fun, some giveaways, and more photos of quilty projects.........including a "finish" for this quilt made from Jacquelynne's "Happy Town" fabrics.

I started it in early March and then, well..........you get the picture.  One of my upcoming giveaways will be some more fabrics from this line, so stayed tuned. Also, "What's on the line?" will return this coming Monday. Slowly, but surely I'm working my way back to regular blogposts!
Oh.........and what about the title of this post? .........A little celebration!  Well, I thought it would be fun to put together a little "grab bag" of quilting goodness..........you know.......a little fabric, a pattern, a quilting magazine, whatever I feel like stuffing in a USPS Flat Rate envelope! Just leave your name and e-mail link for a chance to win the "grab bag" of quilting goodness. I'll have my Random Number Man draw a winner on Sunday evening, June 2nd and will announce the name of the winner in Monday's "What's on the line?" post. Good luck and have a good day!

Sandi,
I remember very well when you first started blogging. I have read every post. I don't often get to comment any more, but I still read all that you are up to. I have always enjoyed your blog and it is really the only one I read. Hugs to you my friend!

So very glad that things in your life have stabilized enough for you to get back to blogging. You are really missed when you are unable to post. But we all understand that life happens. The new quilt piece is so cute! Will it be a What's on the Line some Monday? Sarah in OK

I understand what you are going through, but my care giving was local, not in another state. It lasted for more then 4 years. My parents both passed away during the last quarter of 2012. I thought that would give me more time to blog, quilt, etc. Wrong! That met that I had to go through every drawer, box, envelope in their 3 story house to make sure I knew everything. Unfortunately it also kept me from reading about your Mother breaking her hip. I knew you were in Iowa for extended periods, but I am sorry I missed a most important blog. Do take care of yourself Sandi and be assured your Mom has many loving hands caring for her now. Peggy in KY

Congrats on your anniversary. Praying that normal comes back soon. Sometimes we get bored with normal, but as soon as things get all weird, we want our normal back.

I get the 'getting back into the swing' of things. In the past month, both my sons have moved back home, one graduated and started his new job yesterday (he'll be living at home for the next year so that he can pay off student loans) and the other son got engaged this month.
