My parents gave me a Singer Featherweight sewing machine. I was so shocked, I still have it and love to sew on that machine. Thanks for such a charming fabric panel and fabric.

The best Christmas ever was when we were all together, being large family and all spread out, it was really special. It's all about family for me.

So pretty! One year my older sister (by three years) got up really early - like at 5 a.m. - and opened all the presents under the tree. I'm not sure that she had a good explanation for WHY she did that. I got a doll that year and there is a picture of me holding it by it's hair. I think I was just overwhelmed by all the commotion over the present opening. I was about three.

Today I very clearly remember the year I received a gift of a lighted globe. It was a great surprise that I enjoyed it and I still fondly.

I loved the Little Kiddle dolls I got when I was about 7. My best friend got them too and we spent hours making little clothes for them, I guess those were my earliest sewing adventures!

Beautiful fabric! I think one of my most favorite gifts was having my
mother home for Christmas. She had been in the hospital suffering from a heart attack and we didn't know if she would be able to be with us. Gratefully she came home and slowly
recovered to be with us for many years. Nola

Living in a place where the winters are not very cold, from the age of about 4, I longed for a pair of shoe ice skates. No rink anywhere near our town but I still wanted those skates. I drew stick type pictures of figures skating. Every time I was asked what I wanted for Santa to bring, each Christmas, all I would say was "Ice Skates"My parents thought I was silly but one of our lady friends bought me a pair from a catalog and had them sent to me when I was 9 years old. I kept those never used skates until I went to college. Sarah in Ok

My favorite gift as a child was my microscope because it meant uninterrupted one-on-one time with my father. We looked at different types of cells for hours.

My favorite gift was the Suzy Bake Oven. Oh my, to have my own oven and no one could tell me what I had to make (no veggies were ever cooked on that stove, especially brussel sprouts). Oh the mud pies I made all summer long when the cake mixes were gone, fabulous!!

What a wonderful gift! When I was 7 or 8 we lived with another family, as my mother was the housekeeper. My mother, brother and I shared one room, needless to say we didn't have a lot of extras. Imagine my shock on Christmas morning when I opened the box containing my ballerina doll! I still have her, in the original box, more than 50 years later, broken leg and all. The awe of Christmas returns when I think of her. Thank you for reminding me!

Barbie! I loved getting a new Barbie doll and the accessories to make her look stylish. My mom made all the clothes for my Barbies so I never had the same outfits that the other girls had. I still have all my Barbies! Thanks for the great giveaway.

Thanks for the giveaway. Growing up in Holland, we didn't celebrate Christmas with presents as we do now in Canada, but on Dec 5th on St. Nicolaus day. Most of the time it was clothes or games or crafty items that were given to us. Don't know if there is one that stands out more than the other.

Gosh, I can remember so many wonderful gifts I recieved as a child, what was my favorite???HUmmm I guess it would have to be the Creepy Crawlers Oven. Weird being a girl that I even wanted this. You squeezed this gooy stuff in this molds, set the mold in this open type oven and watched it basically cook. After a while is hardened up and you popped them out. Squishy rubbery bugs!!! I'll have to remind my Mom and Dad of this and see if they remember. Thanks for your give a way. Raven

Maybe not the best gift, but when coke first came out with two liter GLASS bottles, my brother bought me one and "wrapped" it with masking tape. Because of the shape I knew just what it was and almost died of anticipation! Can you believe that soda used to be that much of a treat?

The rule on Christmas morning in our house was that breakfast came before the presents. This also meant that the dishes had to be done after breakfast and before the presents. One year when I was about 6 years old, and breakfast had been eaten and the dishes had been washed and put away, us kids were told that we were then to clean out the shed and set up tables and chairs for lunch with the extended family later that day. When we reached the shed after dragging our feet and pouting the whole way we found the reason for having to clean out the shed. Santa had left a very big present just inside the door. It was a swing set!! Four kids had never changed from sad to happy quicker!

My favorite gift most Christmas's was the matching PJ's my grandma made for me & my baby doll! What a joy that was, i got to open it Christmas eve, & wear it for the morning. One year however at 12 she gave me her old square dance dress from the 1930's, which was "tea-length" & really looked more like something worn by a pioneer woman on the trail. It was homemade of course, as she made all her own clothes. It fit me perfectly & I have had it nearly 40 years now. Special doesn't have to be new.
Would love to win your sleigh of goodies; thanks for the chance.

I love the old photos and stories. I collect my family's old photos when I get my hands on them. I posted quite a few on Facebook not to long ago and my Aunties were like, "Where did you get that? I don't have one...." It is best to do the collecting now before the photos disappear.

It isn't a Christmas gift but near the death of my grandmother I got most of her quilting fabric (incl. scraps). Now, even years later I come across a scrap that she had made me or one of the sisters (my aunts) an outfit or gift from. I have prints that are older than my 44 years and it keeps her close.

When I was in sixth grade I received a bike for Christmas. I rode that bike all the time. The bike was my only transportation to the high school where Driver's Ed was held during the summer. The high school was about 7 miles from my home. Never did get my license until I was 24.

I am the oldest of 6 girls. One year, my mom made all of us (including her) matching apple green dresses with white picot edging. She made my dad and brother matching seersucker blazers. The local newspaper featured us on the front page...guess it was a slow news week!

I love the picture and story in your header. How sweet to know that your dad was proud of your mother. My favorite gift was my first sewing machine, a kid's Singer with an actual bobbin, that I got when I was 6. The manager of that store owns his own store and still sells me my machines. Um, he was very young at the time, lol.

One of my best christmases was when I got my cabbage patch kid. All my friends had them and i was sure I wasn't going to get one, but i did! My dad told me years later how he had to go and stand in line for hours until a shipment came in, just made it that much more special.

All I wanted for Christmas when I was about 4 years old was a BRIDE doll. I had seen her in the toy department showcase. Every time we went to that store, I would beg to go visit her and just spend as much time as I could memorizing her. On visit, very near Christmas, they must have changed the display because she was gone. Surely that meant Santa had bought her to give to me!

Well, that year, Santa brought me a baby doll. I don't think I was very gracious. I know I was disappointed. My mother had always loved baby dolls but I never really felt that way. She and Dad had thought a baby doll would be a good introduction to the new addition to our threesome they were about to produce in February. I must have pined and whined because one month later, on my birthday, there was the doll I had asked for from Santa.

My favorite childhood Christmas gift was, a hot wheels race track. Being the second girl in my family, all I ever got were dolls and other girl toys. All I really wanted was some trucks and cars. I finally received something that I played with for hours and hours. Thanks for the chance at such an awesome prize! ;->

My best present ever was when I was 9 I got my very first bike. It was metallic yellow with the high handle bars and a banana seat with a matching white and yellow basket on the front. It was all set up in the living room in front of the Christmas tree on Christmas morning. It was a sight I will never forget.

I remember one year when I received a stuffed animal that looked a lot like Snoopy though his name was Henry- according to the manufacturer. I named him Snoopy and went no where without him. I finally had to throw him out when I was in my early 20's because my brothers cat sprayed him. Ugh!

Happy Holidays to you!

Such cute fabric - I adore snowmen! My mother made me a doll and clothes for Christmas when I was little. I still have that doll. Very sweet but not a special story. Now the next year my brother and I got sleds for Christmas. They were under the tree - our tree didn't get 'opened' until after lunch. We were at my grandparents house and I was the youngest kid waiting for the rest of my cousins to get there. I walked into the living room and my grandfather was asleep on the chair, so not knowing what to do, I put the sled on the floor, got a pillow and went to sleep! I always love the picture they took of me sleeping in the sled.
Thank-you for the chance to win!

Ooh - I love that fabric line! And what a sweet little sleigh. You're so kind. My favorite gift as a child was left for my by Santa when I was about 8. It was a ventriloquist doll! Wow. I thought it was amazing. I still laugh when I think how I must have looked as I tried to make him talk without moving my lips. Hilarious.

What a beautiful panel. I've never used panels in my quilts. Probably because I'm new and just haven't gotten to it yet. My to do list just keeps getting longer and longer. I've got to stop viewing everyone's great projects online and get to that list.

Happy Holidays!

I love the story in your header! My own mother hated to sew, but taught me so I would know how. She made me a fancy doll dress for Christmas one year, which I absolutely loved because I knew she didn't care for sewing. I always made my daughter dresses, and sometimes made us matching ones too.
