I have been "Out and About" to Jenni's Yarn shop.........

That's right. I promised I'd share my "out and about adventures" and I have a great one to share today. I've been "here and there" in Minnesota, then on the road to "here and there" in Iowa.  And then when I got home, I had to catch up so it wasn't until last night that I loaded 250 photos from all that time "out and about".  I definitely have fun stuff to share!  And sooooooooo, here we go............
A couple of weeks ago, I took a little trip back to Prior Lake where we used to live. My purpose? It was to visit my friend, Jenni's, new venture.......Twisted*Loop*Yarn*Shop!!  Jenni is realizing a dream by opening her shop. She's a quilter, too, (we were members of the Prior Lake Quilter's) and a mom and a wife and a schoolbus driver!! She is one busy gal!!
Now many of you know, because I have shared the fact that I do not knit or crochet, and you might be wondering why I would check out a yarn shop. Ah, but my daughter, Collette, can knit and she loves to crochet!  I was on a mission to find something fun at Jenni's shop that would make a nice gift for Collette.  (If you live in the area, just check out Jenni's website for shop hours here.) The day I stopped in was a Thursday when she is open late. Her shop is located in the lower level of another great shop where I used to buy lots of fun gifty items........Home Accents. As you head down the steps, you might see this gorgeous sweater, a sample that one of the yarn companies loaned Jenni for her Open House. I love that sweater!

It occurred to me that maybe I should take a class but I quickly thought better of it as it's all I can do to find time to quilt these days. But you can check out her classes here.
Taking a class was very tempting because the yarns were so beautiful! I was looking for a gift for Collette...........so I thought about buying some variegated yarn so she could make a scarf...........
Then I saw these bright, fun colors.............
and then there were these awesome knitting tote bags..........
and more gorgeous yarns and some of them were soooooo soft!
There was another customer in the shop and that's Jenni (on the right) answering questions about one of the yarns. And here is where I apologize for my photo taking ability. Jenni is almost always smiling and I caught her in "serious mode". If you stop in the shop, though, you will see her smile and enjoy her laugh!
So, what did I buy for Collette? Well, I can tell you now, because I gave it to her as a surprise about a week ago. I bought the magenta colored knitting tote. It was too sweet to pass up. The totes are from a company called Lantern*Moon and are made in Vietnam. Check out their story here. I originally thought I'd save the tote for a Christmas gift but I couldn't wait that long. My plan was to personally deliver it to her at the daycare she owns. It was late in the day and she had left work already so I left the tote on her chair and it was a surprise the next morning when she arrived at work. She loved it!! Now the next time I'm in Prior Lake, I guess I'll have to get some yarn to fill the tote. :-)   Jenni has a great little shop and I wish her much success!!

Yesterday's post of the quilty sign is just one of the 250 photos I loaded last night. My trip to Iowa was made so that I could take my mom to some doctor appointments in Iowa City but we had some fun, too. There were pretty fall colors to see and a couple of quilt shops and the Kalona Quilt Museum and more. I have so much to share!
Back soon...........

I love yarn shops - so pretty and so many nice things to pet! My Mom knits beautifully - I did have a quick lesson and can sort of knit a scarf, but I just don't have time! Looks like the shop is wonderful!

What glorious yarns! Gosh, it makes me just want to drop everything and start working on nothing but yarn projects. LOL! I'm so easily swayed! Sounds like you had a blast! :)

What a lovely shop. I knit too, and those soft yarns are hard to pass up. The knitting bag is perfect as you just have to have a nice bag for your knitting projects. Who wants to carry them around in a plastic bag??!

A fun day out! Love that tote and all the yummy yarn! I used to do a lot of knitting when I lived in Norway, but not here... I have a few knitting UFO's to finish, but it goes veeeery slow! :)

I haven't seen Jenni in a number of years, back when she was active in Minnesota Quilters. Glad to know what she is up to and I wish her nothing but success in her new venture!

What a beautiful tote to carry a yarn project or embroidery or applique or whatever! I have been spending much time with doctors lately. I should take something along in a bag like that. Do a little until my name is called, do more while waiting for the doctor, and continue while waiting at the pharmacy. A bag like that is owl I need. I'm sure I have one somewhere.

What a fun yarn shop, I love yarn but quilting has taken over my life. I have a pair of socks half done and it has been a couple of years since I started them. Humm maybe I need to at least finish them.
